Getting Information About Natural Disasters(自然災害を知る)

Japan is a country in which natural disasters (typhoons, earthquakes, etc.) occur frequently. Even in Higashihiroshima City, each year there are landslides, etc., caused by typhoons and localized torrential downpours.
It is very important to know about natural disasters, in order to protect yourself. It is important to be prepared at all times, so that you can protect yourself even if a disaster occurs suddenly.

Evacuation Sites(避難所)

Evacuation sites are facilities established by local governments to which you can evacuate in the case of a natural disaster. You can stay at these facilities. In Higashihiroshima City, elementary and junior high schools and community centers etc. in the city are designated as evacuation sites. You should confirm in advance the location of nearby evacuation sites, and decide the route you will take to get to them.
In the event of a natural disaster, many people congregate at evacuation sites. Be considerate of others, and respect the rules of the evacuation site.

Preparation of Items to Take With You in an Emergency(非常持ち出し品の準備)

Evacuation sites may not always have enough water, food, medicines or blankets. In case of evacuation, prepare daily necessities such as food and water, and ensure that you are able to take your supplies out of your accommodation with you at short notice. Bearing in mind the composition of your family, ensure that you have prepared sufficient amounts of necessary items.

Participation in Local Disaster Prevention Drills, Etc.(地域の防災訓練などに参加)

Try to participate actively in local disaster prevention drills and disaster prevention classes, etc., and always be aware of the importance of disaster prevention.

Actions to Take Based on Weather Information, and Corresponding Alert Levels(気象情報に基づいたとるべき行動と、相当する警戒レベル)

After disaster prevention weather information has been announced, based on that information the city may issue an evacuation advisory, etc.
Even if no evacuation advisory has been issued, based on the disaster prevention weather information, decide yourself whether to evacuate, with reference to the table below.
