On Support Benefits for Pregnant Women（妊婦のための支援給付金）

‘Support Benefits for Pregnant Women’ was stipulated in the Child and Child Care Act and got started from April 2025 for continuous support during pregnancy period.

Accordingly, Childbirth and Child-raising Support Grant terminated and shifted to ‘Support Benefits for Pregnant Women’ at the end of March 2025.

‘Support Benefits for Pregnant Women’ system is implemented in conjunction with interview based on Comprehensive Consultation Support Project (Accompanied Consultation Support) to provide comprehensive support for pregnant women.

Overview（概要）

1st maternity support benefit（妊婦支援給付1回目）

50,000 yen for each pregnant certified as a recipient of benefits (eligible for the pregnant who has applied for pregnancy benefit certification on and after April 1st, 2025.）

2nd maternity support benefit（妊婦支援給付2回目）

50,000 yen for the woman certified as a recipient of benefits who gave birth on and after the starting date of the support program, or 50,000 yen for each fetus whose number was confirmed by a doctor on and after the starting date of the support program

Those who have already completed residential registration in Higashihiroshima City at the time of application for the benefit and received pregnancy benefit certification as well.

Those who became pregnant and gave birth overseas may not be eligible for the benefit

Amount paid when applying for the benefit（支給額）

【1st maternity support benefit】50,000 yen for each pregnant

【2nd maternity support benefit】50,000 yen for each fetus（Including miscarriage, stillbirth and abortion）

※Applicants who have had a miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion are eligible for the benefit on and after April 1st, 2025. 

Payment method and Application procedure（給付方法と申請の流れ）

Payment method（給付方法）

The amount paid is transferred to the bank account under the pregnant woman’s name a few months after the application.

※It cannot be transferred to any bank account without her name.

For those who have been through a miscarriage or stillbirth etc.（流産・死産等などを経験された方へ）

Those who have had a miscarriage, stillbirth, and abortion or who lost their child can also apply for the benefits. The Mother and Child Health Handbook is necessary to confirm pregnancy or the number of children.

Those who have had a miscarriage before submitting a notification of pregnancy can also apply. In this case it is necessary to confirm the fact of pregnancy with medical certificates issued by a doctor to check fetal heart rate.

Cautionary Notes（注意事項）

1. Those who have already received the government’s Childbirth and Child-raising Support Grant on the same pregnancy are not eligible for this benefit program.
2. Those who have already received benefits from other local governments based on the same program cannot apply again. (Whether 1^st or 2^nd maternity support benefit, it is not acceptable to have double benefits from multiple local governments.
3. Those who have already received the 1^st maternity support benefit or Childbirth Support Gift from other local government need to reapply for maternity support benefits to receive just the 2^nd benefit at Higashihiroshima City.
4. When you move out from Higashihirtoshima after your maternity support benefit was certified, this certification at our city will be invalid. If you want to receive the support benefit after moving out, please follow the necessary procedure at the local government of your new address.

Those who gave birth by 31^st March, 2025（令和7年3月31日までに子どもを出生した方）

Those households with child mentioned above are eligible for ‘Child-raising Support Grant.’ Please see the page below for the details.

Those who haven’t applied for ‘the Childbirth Support Gift’ yet by 31^st March, 2025（令和7年3月31日までに「出産応援ギフト」の申請が済んでいない方）

The pregnant women below are eligible for ‘Support Benefits for Pregnant Women’: those who have submitted a notification of pregnancy by 31^st March, 2025 but who haven’t applied for ‘Childbirth Support Gift’ yet and have been pregnant since 1^st April, 2025.

Please wait for the application letter which is to be sent after the middle of May 2025.

Higashihiroshima City Office staff may contact you to confirm the content of your application or support and so on. However, we never request to guide you on how to operate an ATM nor charge fee necessary for the benefit. If you have received any suspicious calls, please contact the nearest police station.
