更新日:2024年02月01日

Declaration of income for those enrolled in the National Health Insurance scheme and the Latter Stage Elderly Health Insurance scheme(国民健康保険・後期高齢者医療制度加入者の所得申告)

Those enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme, and those enrolled in the Latter Stage Elderly Health Insurance Scheme, must each make declarations of income, even if they have no income or only income that is not subject to tax.
Even in households with low incomes, If even one member of the household does not make a declaration of income, then no matter how low the income of the household, the members of the household will not be eligible for reductions or exemptions for payments for the National Health Insurance Scheme and the Latter Stage Elderly Health Insurance Scheme. Also, the amount paid by the individual in the case of expensive medical treatment may rise, and the individual may become unable to receive reductions in the cost of food and treatment in medical facilities.

Those in the following groups do not need to file a declaration of income.(所得申告が不要な人)

・Those under the age of 18 (the date for calculation of age for the 2024-25 declaration is January 1st, 2024);
・Those who have filed a tax return for income tax;
・Those who have filed a tax return for residence tax;
・Those with only an income from salary, who have made a year-end adjustment at their workplace;
・Those with only a public pension income (those with only income such as a survivor's pension, disability pension, etc. need to file a declaration)

Those who are anticipated to need to file a declaration will be sent a declaration form in mid-February.
