From the 2026-27 financial year, for elementary schools, the school lunch fee burden for guardians will be reduced to 0 yen by utilizing the School Lunch Cost Burden Reduction Subsidy.

For junior high schools, the amount borne by guardians will remain unchanged by utilizing the Priority Support Local Revitalization Temporary Grant for Responding to Rising Prices.

*Please note that households receiving public assistance are not eligible for the School Lunch Cost Burden Reduction Subsidy. Since school lunch fees are covered under educational assistance based on the Public Assistance Act, payment is still required as before (unit price: 330 yen).

Note: Due to rising food ingredient costs, the unit price of school lunches may change. If any changes occur, you will be notified separately.

School Lunch Fees for Households receiving Public Assistance(公的支援を受ける場合の給食費について)

If school expense subsidies are being received (Junior High School):

[Certified Households]
Since the school lunch fees are automatically paid to the city from the school expense assistance funds, guardians do not need to make payments.

[Households with Applications Under Review]
Guardians must first make the payment. After certification is granted, the amount paid for the certified period will be refunded.

[If Certification Is Revoked During the Fiscal Year]
School lunch fees for the certified period do not need to be paid. However, if the household becomes non-certified, guardians must pay the fees from that point onward.

If welfare benefits are being received (Elementary School, Junior High School):

As a general rule, public assistance benefits are paid from the city to the guardian, who then pays the school lunch fees from those funds.

However, with the guardian’s consent, it is possible for the city (Welfare Division) to pay the school lunch fee portion directly to the school principal, who will then make the payment on the guardian’s behalf.

(In this case, submission of a “Letter of Authorization and Consent with Bank Transfer Request Form” is required.)
